About Me
Wong Sheau Huey, born in Kuala Lumpur, is a Malaysian-based artist.
My artworks primarily focus on conveying inner emotions, both my own and those of others. I often paint feelings that are hard to convey with words, like emotional confusion, stress, or quiet struggles. I use oil painting to express these invisible parts of the human experience and to make hidden feelings more visible.
Besides painting, I also enjoy working with paper and fabric collage. I like the process of breaking the fibers, which feels similar to how emotions may fall apart and slowly come back together. The texture of these materials helps me express feelings in a more natural and emotional way.
In the future, I want to continuing exploring subjects like self-identity, emotional disconnection, nostalgia, and the bittersweet feeling of growing up. I’m especially interested in childhood memories, playful visuals, and how alcohol may be used to represent escape or emotional issues. No matter what materials I use, my work is always based on emotion and how to show what’s going on inside.
